Livestock Shelters
In most cases you will not need a full size barn for alpacas or goats. But you will need to provide some form of shelter from the hot sun in summer and cold winter winds. Here are some sources for small shelters for your animals.

Here is another modified carport with sides, closed in rear end, and
gable. Available in many sizes and options from dealers in many parts of
the country. They also have models that can be combined to make
inexpensive barns. For example: a 12' X 21' unit closed in on the two sides and the back with a gable front (as pictured) goes for about $1300 installed. Check it out at Carolina Carports Inc where you can design your own shelter and get a price. |

We built 3 simple shade shelters for our animals. They measure 20' X20' X 7'. Using 4 @ 8' 4X4 posts set in concrete, a frame was built using 20' 2X6's. The center dividers consist of one 20' 2X6 and two 10' 2X4's. The shade cloth was purchased from Gemplers and stretched across the surface being anchored down with 8' 2X1 furring strips. The wood all came from our local Home Depot. |
