     Maizie gives birth to a beautiful little girl. Our oldest son has named her Sierra.

    All the alpacas were shorn today. Then it turned very cold and snowed the next day. Nancy got out her sewing machine and made coats for all of them.

Two girl kids born this morning. We have named them Emily and Princess.

 
April 19, 2007

6 more kids born today.  3 mothers each had twins. One died in the evening from a genetic defect.  Nancy needs to bottle feed one of them.

New cria born to Colleen this morning. We have named her Mocha.

May 11, 2007

A large brood of Guineas hatched today. Total so far of 34 chicks.

 
May 18, 2007

Marguerite, our oldest goat, gave birth this evening to a little boy. We have named him Marcos. The picture shows him at 1 week old.

June 3, 2007

Another Guinea hen has been sitting on a nest out in the pasture. We put a tarp over her to offer some protection from the rain. The chicks should hatch this week sometime. We have sold 20 of the first brood to a local feed store and now have 13 left.

June 16, 2007

Took Maizie and Colleen with their crias to Copper Hill Ranch for breeding. Had to leave Chyna at home. She is over a month late with her cria.

July 22, 2007

After testing, Chyna turns out to be NOT pregnant. Big disapointment. Took her to join the other girls at Copper Hill. We are leaving for 2 weeks in Finland to attend a wedding.

The Angora kids have been moved to a new pasture to be weaned.

Aug 4, 2007

Picked up the girls from Copper Hill Ranch to bring home. Also found a new crop of 30 Guinea chicks nosing through the grass.

Took Sierra to Copper Hill. Debby wants to show her at the LA Deep South show the first week in Nov.

Marguerite died this morning. She was old and had lived a good life.

 
Dec 10, 2007

Took Chyna to Americana Alpacas in Navasota to be bred again.

Also purchased Sierra Gold from Alpacas of Auburn in Ohio to be our new herd sire. He will be shipped next month.
