| April
Chyna finally has her cria; two weeks overdue. The first alpaca born here. He is a little boy, and our youngest son has named him 'Yaounde' after the capital city of Cameroon where we spent 3 months a year ago. |
| May Finally finished the cross fencing (over 900 ft) for the Alpaca pasture, subdividing it into 5 separate pastures. The fences radiate from a central holding pen to make herding the animals easier. |
| June A friend gave us three guinea hens. We had to modify one of the outbuildings to serve as a house for them. They have adjusted well and are working hard to cut down the grasshopper population. They are also laying a lot of eggs. We are having to do a lot of study on how to care for them, but they are fun to watch. |
| Finished a 10' X 14' storage shed, next to the holding pen. Now all the food and other stuff is no longer cluttering up our garage. |
| July Our son, John, came to visit for a few weeks and spent some time helping us to put up three shade shelters. They are each 20' square and are covered with 70% shade cloth. The animals love them! First batch of Guinea eggs hatched. Started with 13 chicks, but lost 9 to predators. |
